About

The event provided information on the key aspects of responsible supply chain management, sustainability reporting, and the integration of refugees into the workforce, and offered a forum for professional exchange among approximately 200 participants from the business community. Many good examples from small and large companies provided concrete insights, for instance, into the implementation of sustainability requirements through procurement and into reporting on social and environmental impacts along the supply chain.

Last fall, the G7 heads of state and government agreed in Elmau on important steps to enforce global labor, social, and environmental standards. Starting in 2017, an EU directive will also require certain companies to disclose non-financial information on social and environmental impacts as part of their management reporting. In light of these developments, UPJ and econsense, with the support of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, are organizing regional workshops in several federal states. These events will present the key background information and current developments on the topic, but above all will provide a forum for professional exchange among representatives from the business community.
