09/21/2016 | Promoting local community projects throughout the world: Deutsche Post DHL Group encourages employees to participate in the company's sixth Global Volunteer Day event

Deutsche Post DHL Group calls upon its 500,000 employees to participate in Global Volunteer Day (GVD) for the sixth year in a row. This year's official GVD period runs from September 22 to October 2, when employees from all business units will again team up with independent organizations and charities to help in numerous non-profit projects to benefit the communities in which they live.

09/05/2016 | Deutsche Post DHL Group and United Nations Development Programme Hold Airport Disaster Preparedness Workshops in Bali and Lombok

Germany's Deutsche Post DHL Group and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are once again conducting their joint preventative training, known as Get Airports Ready for Disaster (GARD), from September 5 to 9 at Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport, Lombok International Airport and Selaparang Airport in Lombok. Indonesia was the pilot country when the program was implemented globally in 2009 - in Makassar and Palu.

This first 2014 issue of “SD Update – Newsletter Sustainable Development” covers how BASF in collaboration with partners works on improving safety in chemical transportation in Africa and how the company is developing the production of industrial sugars from non-food biomass. The Newsletter also gives insights to the new Global Reporting Initiative G4 Guidelines as well as into BASF’s participation in sustainability conferences.

Lufthansa’s aid initiative, Help Alliance, has a new patron. Vivian Spohr, wife of the CEO of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, Carsten Spohr, is taking over this position on 25th September. "As its patron, I want to contribute to successfully further developing the work of the Help Alliance. For this purpose in future we will need strong financial support. I wish to make an active contribution to securing the financing of our projects and to further developing them.

08/12/2014 | Deutsche Post DHL and United Nations Development Program: Five years of preparing airports for disaster program

Deutsche Post DHL and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are celebrating a special anniversary: for five years now, both organizations have been working on a joint scheme to provide selected airports in disaster prone areas with training and other special attention to help them better prepare for disasters. The "Get Airports Ready for Disaster" (GARD) programme has now worked with 25 airports to help them cope with the logistical challenge of a humanitarian crisis caused by disaster.

What makes a successful business founder? This was just one of the questions answered during the two-week Haiti Entrepreneurship Camp 2014, which was held in early June in Port-au-Prince. The idea was for volunteer experts to help 30 participants who already have a small company or at least a business idea to implement their concepts.

UNDP, UNOCHA and the international courier company Deutsche Post DHL, met today at the UN headquarters to reaffirm their support for their public-private partnership in support of disaster preparedness and response.

06/05/2014 | Thousands of Deutsche Post DHL employees engage for international World Environment Day

On the occasion of the United Nations' World Environment Day, Deutsche Post DHL called its 480.000 employees for action, to participate in activities for the environment and the climate. However, this form of engagement is not a one-time activity: the Group's GoGreen-program was launched in 2009 and encompasses the overall carbon efficiency improvement as well as a carbon neutral transport service. On 5th June, employees around the globe implement specific environmental and charity activities, which often include customers and partners alike.

06/03/2014 | Second Diversity Day in Germany: Deutsche Post DHL makes diversity come alive

Deutsche Post DHL will join the rest of Germany on June 3rd in celebration of Diversity Day, a nationwide event now in its second year. As part of this year's day-long event titled "Vielfalt unternehmen" (Do Diversity), Deutsche Post DHL will feature diversity-related activities at its Post Tower headquarters in Bonn as well as other locations around the world. Initiated in 2013 by the organization Charta der Vielfalt e.V., Diversity Day aims to raise the awareness for diversity issues and integrate it into the German business community.

04/28/2014 | DHL volunteers support non-profit organization TECHO to reach goal of 100,000 emergency housing units in Latin America

DHL partners with TECHO, a Latin American NGO that works to overcome poverty in slums and foster the development of local communities, to help the organization meet its ambitious 2014 target of completing 100,000 emergency housing units in 19 countries since its inception. Founded in 1997 and led by youth volunteers, TECHO was also recently presented with a special donation of USD 250,000 from DHL for building a total of 100 new houses for families this year.

03/31/2014 | Deutsche Post DHL and United Nations Development Programme launch second “Get Airports Ready for Disaster” workshop in the Philippines

Deutsche Post DHL and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) today launched a “Get Airports Ready for Disaster” (GARD) workshop at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport. Running from March 31 to April 2, 2014, the workshop prepares airport personnel for the logistics of emergencies, including handling high volumes of incoming goods and passengers in the aftermath of a disaster.

This question was the focus of the first Lufthansa Family Congress on 7th March at the Lufthansa Training & Conference Center in Seeheim. At the invitation of Dr. Bettina Volkens, Chief Officer Corporate Human Resources and Legal Affairs, around 70 employees from all areas of the Group exchanged views openly within the framework of a think-tank on all the issues and concerns associated with child care.
