02/02/2016 | E.ON’s renewables investments surpass €10 billion mark

A recent upgrade to Amrumbank West wind farm in the North Sea from 288 to 302 megawatts pushed E.ON’s net investments in renewables above €10 billion, more than any other German energy company.

At the sixth Global Cleantech 100 Summit, held last evening in Washington D.C., E.ON was named Corporate Investor of the Year. The event was organized by the Cleantech Group, which conferred the award on the German energy company for its pacesetting investments in start-ups that develop and market environmentally and climate-friendly technology. E.ON has so far acquired stakes in ten cleantech start-ups in the United States and Europe.

Every year, one company gets awarded for its significant action to promote innovation in green technology and environmentally friendly products and services.

The new installation support vessel of Norwegian marine operator Siem Offshore was christened “Siem Moxie” at the naming ceremony today at the port of Hamburg. E.ON is taking over the patronage of the ship.

01/15/2014 | E.ON: Construction begins on Amrumbank West wind farm in the North Sea

E.ON is further expanding its renewables business and has started construction of Amrumbank West wind farm in the North Sea. The first foundation was installed today 37 kilometer northwest of the island of Helgoland.

10/01/2013 | E.ON to open Kårehamn offshore wind farm in Sweden

E.ON has reached a new milestone in the development of renewables. In the presence of Swedish energy minister Anna-Karin Hatt it officially opened the Kårehamn offshore wind farm near the Swedish island of Öland in the Baltic Sea. The wind farm had already been connected to the grid a few weeks ago after only 19 months of construction. Kårehamn has a capacity of 48 megawatts and costs 120 million euros to build. 16 Vestas V112 turbines, each with a capacity of three megawatts, will produce enough electricity to power some 28,000 homes.
