11/22/2013 | Volkswagen Group receives German accolade for responsible management

  • Expert jury honors Volkswagen for anchoring sustainability in its core business and for responsible conduct towards stakeholders and nature
  • Award presented to CFO Hans Dieter Pötsch

The Volkswagen Group has been honored with "Deutscher Investorenpreis für verantwortliches Wirtschaften" (German investor award for responsible management) donated and presented by DuMont publishing house and asset manager Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management. The award, which recognizes Volkswagen for its approach to sustainability as a strategic goal and its exemplary implementation of this target, was presented to Hans Dieter Pötsch, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft responsible for ‘Finance and Controlling', in Frankfurt am Main on Friday evening.

CFO Pötsch described the award as confirmation of Volkswagen's course: "The Volkswagen Group is consistently oriented towards economic, environmental and social sustainability. As a member of society, the Volkswagen Group shares responsibility for mankind and nature – and we meet this obligation." That is underscored by the recent listings in leading indices. In the latest review of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI), Volkswagen was classed as the most sustainable automaker in the world. Volkswagen is listed as the Industry Group Leader in the world's renowned sustainability ranking and has now also been included in DJSI World and DJSI Europe. Furthermore, the Volkswagen Group has become part of the new "Global Compact 100" stock index, a business initiative launched by the UN Global Compact that recognizes companies with especially responsible environmental and social management and sound profitability.

Viewed from the perspective of critical investors and journalists, the sponsors of the German investor award seek to encourage companies to anchor sustainability in their core business and demonstrate responsible conduct towards all stakeholders and nature.
